This CPD will provide an introduction to the process involved when designing a Wardrobe. It will explore the composition of the wardrobe, along with the materials that could be used. Then based on a series of case studies, it will demonstrate different design intent desires and then the practical solutions to give some greater understanding when designing and planning the wardrobes. By the end of the presentation you should have a greater understanding of: – The process involved when designing a Wardrobe – The composition of the materials and manufacturing processes involved – How to apply knowledge of materials technology to achieve the desired concept – How to advise clients and developers of best practice for sustainable solutions – Examples on how best to utilize the design intent through the furniture technology – How specify the correct solutions, to aid with ergonomic effects, health and safety standards and the sustainable quality of furniture – How to bring your concepts to fruition within the budget guidelines and requirements of the building – The history of wardrobes and how the design and requirement has evolved over time.
