Phil Easton, RIBA CA, Director from Western Design Architecture will be joining us to share his in-depth knowledge and experience of the processes involved in researching and investigating, to restore, conserve, convert, extend, modernise, and landscape 18th Century thatched Cob houses, using 18th to 21st century technologies, while preserving their character and avoiding gentrification.

 

In a very short time, Phil will cover most of the major problems (of which there are many) encountered during a typical thatched cob restoration project, sharing examples mostly from Milton Abbas.

Phil will also touch on the rights and wrongs of converting buildings, originally workers hovels, into very valuable houses, fit for the pages of Country Life magazine.
