Net Zero in the built environment From ambition to action

CPD Events

First aired: 23 November 2022

Global infrastructure demand is insatiable, but climate change calls for lower emissions. As we look at COP27’s ambition to move from pledges to action, there will be an even greater onus on how the construction industry can help take on both challenges, and play a lead role in making net zero happen.

This will require an accelerated shift towards not just innovative green solutions and processes but radical new ways of sustainable thinking in everything from transport and logistics, local sourcing, community engagement and biodiversity as the industry continues to redefine modern construction practice. The panel will explore the key sustainability developments that will aid this transition and the benefit of staking the opportunity to go greener now.

This session will cover the sustainability agenda, key outcomes of COP27 and construction’s role as a key driving force, the current state of play, and what needs to be done.

Speakers include:
- Kirstin McCarthy, Director of sustainability, Aggregate Industries
- Rory Bergin, Sustainability partner, HTA
- Louise Hutchins, Head of policy & places, UKGBC
- Richard Twinn, Associate sustainability consultant, Cundall
