    How to Specify Sustainable Flooring
A presentation aimed at providing candidates with a good understanding of the role solid hardwood floors can play in sustainable building design. Wood is a carbon neutral material and specifying the correct wooden floor can produce a measurable reduction in global warming. We provide candidates with an understanding of why this is so, and to help them realise the potential of solid wood floors over the extended life span of the product.
  • 11:30 - 12 CPD Provider Network presentation by Lundhs AS
Natural Stone - Sustainability and Solutions for Modern Design
Natural stone is one of the most abundant and naturally low carbon materials on Earth. This seminar covers the ways in which natural stone can address and provide solutions to issues of sustainability in the built environment. Participants will learn about historical usage, the latest applications, solutions and design and the future of natural stone as a sustainable material.
  • 12:30 - 13 Break
  • 13:15 - 14 Keynote by Jess Hrivnak, RIBA
Collaborative process: An introduction to the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard (UKNZCBS) - Developing the UK’s first science-based net zero targets and limits.
  • 14:15 - 15 CPD Provider Network presentation by Johnstone's Trade Paints
Sustainable Architecture and the Role of Paint Systems
Sustainability is a key factor in the design of any building, from waste management and wellbeing factors to designing for durability and material sourcing; specifiers must develop and manage sustainability strategies to minimise environmental impact of construction projects now and in the future. With a focus on paint systems, this CPD explores the role of paint in sustainable design, providing guidance on making sustainable and durable specification choices to protect and beautify the spaces we live and work in; in line with the requirements of green building assessment methods including BREEAM and LEED. By the end of the presentation you will have a greater understanding of:
    - Sustainable design principles
    - Green building rating system requirements
    - The role of coatings in sustainable outcomes
    - Indoor Air Quality and Material Life Cycle Analysis
    - Developing fit for purpose durable specifications
