London & the OxCam Arc – a city dialogue

CPD Events

In this city dialogue we hear from Oxford, Cambridge and London about the challenges and opportunity of the knowledge economy sector in the region.

London, Oxford and Cambridge form one of the world’s leading knowledge-intensive region, also known as the Golden Triangle. It’s home to five of the world’s top-ranked universities for life sciences and medicine and accommodate hundreds of highly skilled businesses ranging from technology, robotic, medicine and life sciences.

The region is facing long-term structural challenges, posed by the shortage of housing and the poor transport connection, particularly due to the lack of a direct connection between Oxford, Milton Keynes and Cambridge.

Despite the disruption brought by COVID-19 the demand for office space is high in the region, particularly for labs, while supply is lacking behind, with rising rents being among the highest in the UK.

How are the three cities addressing the pressure to grow? What are the major new developments coming in the area and how can the region as a whole create the right balance and mix of start-ups, grow-on, industrial and corporate space, alongside vital housing and social infrastructure to support a sustainable future?

In this city dialogue we hear from Oxford, Cambridge and London about the challenges and opportunity of the knowledge economy sector in the region.
