Specifying for Part L

CPD Events

First aired: 23 November 2022

Updates to Approved Document L, or Part L, of the Building Regulations for England, came into force on 15 June 2022. The updated regulations aim to lower the operational carbon emissions of new homes, raise fabric efficiency standards and introduce a new level of quality control. As such specifying materials and products to meet the new standards has become a top priority and consideration in the past six months.

In this session, hear from a panel of experts as they outline what the fabric requirements are, explain the specification responsibilities from a Part L perspective, and how decisions can impact compliance. The panel will also discuss which specification decisions can have the biggest impact on energy efficiency and what the cost implications and benefits are both during the build and post-occupancy.

Speakers include:
- David Adams, Strategic advisor, Future Homes Hub
- Lidia Guerra, Senior engineer, Max Fordham
- Claire Young, Senior engineer, Civic Engineers

Chaired by: Hollie Tye, Specification editor, Assemble Media Group
