difference between Autocad and Autocad Architecture

Recochrane

Hi,

I'm an Architectural Technician and my employer is looking at Autocad Architecture to replace our current software. I've heard of the product but I'm not familiar with the differences with Autocad.

does anyone know?

Here's what the comparison is, in a nutshell: AutoCAD is a general-purpose CAD program. AutoCAD Architecture is an add-on (or toolset) that simplifies architectural drawings by offering a preset list of "objects" such as doors, windows, etc.

In AutoCAD you have to draw everything yourself, line by line. Once you have drawn a plan and decide that a door is really meant to be somewhere else, you are going to have to change everything by hand.

With AutoCAD Architecture creating and moving objects is much simpler.

There is a helpful YouTube video that shows the differences. The video is not exceedingly polished, but it does the job.
