Laing O’Rourke are simply attempting to recoup some of the losses by handing responsibility off to other parties. I don’t blame them. I would do the same in their shoes.

 

I remember Laing O’Rourke were in court not too long ago. They were sued by Manchester University (which also sued John McAslan Architects) with facade brickwork issues.

 

Interesting case. Will be following.

Hello, I would say that judging from this article it sounds like it is just emphasising the problems that come from value engineering done badly. 

 

In my opinion the main problem is swapping building elements for cheaper alternatives without taking quality in to consideration.
