AI is already being used

Supernova

Looks like ZHA has found a replacement in the top spot.  AI is taking over the late director's role in the office.

This is a mockery compared to the design genius that was Zaha Hadid.

Not sure what to think of this revelation, Zaha was the creative powerhouse behind ZHA, she transformed her artwork into the buildings we see today, she was an inspiration to so many young students starting out in architecture.  I think that Patrik Schumacher is missing this important link in the design process, not sure that generating a visual with AI and then using that as a base will work out too well.

I have been appalled at Zaha Hadid after reading this - makes me wonder how many interesting projects by them we'll see from now on.

Hi @Jane

As has been pointed out many times, Zaha Hadid was a visionary architect.  She designed over 900 projects in 44 countries.  And there was no need for AI.

On ZHA using AI for designs, I don't know, and I don't know much about these technologies but as a tool for ideas it could work. But there are downsides to this, such as, originality (and from the outside, how could you know?).

Patrik Schumacher states "I accept all of that into our oeuvre. Any of what comes out of this, I claim authorship for it in terms of validating, selecting, elaborating. So I feel very kind of empowered by all this possibility".

This statement reveals everything about the current direction of Schumacher and ZHA. They are missing Zaha Hadid.

That said, we will see if ZHA's AI-powered designs get built, as you pointed out.

Well - the title kind of says it all really! Wondering if anyone has any experience of using AI in practice?

Never knew AI existed to this extent. Could come in massively useful as a design tool.  I get that if you design iconic buildings this is a must, not sure for the small stuff.

I think sometimes there is an unnecessary push towards this "automation" , and a hell of a load of apps that claim to make life simpler.....except they create you a load more work to supposedly make things simpler.

So yeah....What I do know is that I have to keep up!

There is something to this whole AI thing.  I think that all Patrik Schumacher is trying to say is to embrace it and to work with it, he compares this to CAD and how that reduced time and effort to produce drawings back in the olden days 😉

I’m not sure that I agree with it all but it is something that is coming in full force and it’s better to know than fall to the wayside.

Use of AI is increasing and will become the norm in this business and in others. This is something I've personally taken note of, but I don't see many people discuss it that way. I think more professionals should look at this as a tool in their toolset - could make a big difference in their day-to-day work.

I'm aware that some people believe that AI will steal their job 😆 when in reality it can free up people's time to focus on the more valuable aspects of their work.
